Are Mark. cosmetic products good, high quality products?

They are pretty cheap, so I was wondering if they are good. I hate spending money on junk, even if it is 5 bucks! Are Mark. cosmetic products good, high quality products?
I'm not going to lie. Mark and all avon products aren't bad. They are usually a decent quality makeup products. If your looking for high quality make up i would stick to the basics or anything you can buy at sephora. I am a huge MAC fan as well as urban decay or anything that displays a full list of the ingredients and preferably doesn't feel necessary to test on animals. Enjoy :)Are Mark. cosmetic products good, high quality products?
I find they're actually MORE expensive than regular old Avon. You can likely find the exact same colors in the regular Avon catalog for cheaper, depending on the item.

I like all the Avon stuff.
Overall, I'm a fan of MARK... My favorite is their lip glosses/ sticks... they have a slight mint flavor that is awesome. The hook ups are good to have in your purse cause they don't take up that much room but come in everything you need... However, I am NOT a fan of their shadows, sometimes the picture is different from the color. They are usually pricey and for the price , you could get a better shadow from a better line such as ulta
They are the same as avon.
I have mark lipgloss, and i love it.

I've also had mark eyeshadow creams and I liked them too.

I've never tryed the blush or anything, but I'm sure they'll work just as well.

If you wear contact lenses, it is especially important to be careful how long you use your eye-area makeup. I wear contacts and have sensitive eyes to boot. I found the follow information especially helpful. I have pasted the a portion of the article and source below:

Cosmetics aren't required by law to have expiration dates, so you can't just look at the label to know when a product has expired. Experts vary in their guidelines, but all agree that mascara lasts the shortest amount of time and is the likeliest to cause infections, such as pink eye. Expiration dates are simply ';rules of thumb'; and a product's safety may expire long before the expiration date if a product hasn't been stored properly.

Cosmetics:

Liquid Foundation, 3-6 months (Cream foundation can last 4-6 months)

Foundation in a bottle should last 3-6 months, but wide mouthed jars can expose the product to more air and should be tossed sooner. You'll know it's time to purchase a new bottle, when the ingredients begin to settle or separate, the texture thickens or thins, or the smell changes.

Concealer, 6-8 months

Powders, 1 year

Pressed powder, eye-shadows, blush

Mascara, 3 months

You should never keep mascara for any longer than 3 months (air pushes bacteria back into the tube). Never ';pump'; your mascara.

Lip gloss %26amp; Lipstick, 1 year

Eye/Lip Pencils, 1 year

Eye and lip pencils should last 1 year or more, but you should sharpen pencils at least once a week to prevent bacteria from being transferred to your eye area. You'll know the product has gone bad if it dries or crumbles.

Skincare

Facial Cleansers %26amp; Moisturizers, 6 months

Facial Toners, 1 year

Natural Cosmetics, 6 months (';all-natural body washes';, etc.)

Among other cosmetics that are likely to have an unusually short shelf life are ';all natural'; products that contain plant-derived ingredients (which are conducive to bacterial growth), or products with no preservatives.

Brushes And Tools

Oils and bacteria get trapped in the bristles of the brushes. Wash natural-bristled brushes once a month, and synthetic brushes three to four times a month. Lay the brushes flat to dry so that the bristles don't break, and to maintain the shape of the brushes. There are brush cleansers out there, but you can also use mild soap. You may also use baby shampoo to wash your brushes.

Cosmetic makeup sponges are disposable tools. Wash after every use. Toss within 1 month, or when the sponge begins to tear.

I am not sure if they actually date the package. I believe, it is more so the date after the product is opened. Mascara is 3 months, powder is 12, base is 6, and I believe eyeshadow is 12 months also. I am pretty sure, anyway. So, this would be months of use after the package is opened. Eyeliner I am not sure - I want to say 12-24? SOmewhere in there. It is suggested that you dip in rubbing alcohol weekly to kill bacteria.

  • How does MAC cosmetic products measure up to prescriptives, fashion fair etc.?

well MAC and persciptives are at total opposite ends of the spectrum. MAC carries products that are bold and very edgy. they have bright, deep, unique colors. prescriptives is more for the everyday look. casual and very classy. both brands are great. How does MAC cosmetic products measure up to prescriptives, fashion fair etc.?
MAC is so good! It has great colors, especially the eyeshadows. They come in tons of colors with shimmers, and opaques. The lipsticks make ur lips look great and the lipglosses feel great on ur lips. I denfinetely recomend MAC!How does MAC cosmetic products measure up to prescriptives, fashion fair etc.?
well I've heard that they don't test on animals

    and are kind of trendy
i like MAC, but their foundations are terrible for skin. they really clog the pores, etc.
OMG. Please don't use Fashion Fair. Unless you want to look orange. MAC and Prescriptives are both Estee Lauder companies...so they are both quaility products.

    MAC Cosmetic Products?

I'd like to get some of their eyeshadow and possibly some liquid eyeliner.

But I went to their site and all of their stuff is WAY expensive.

Is there anywhere I can shop where it'll be around average price?MAC Cosmetic Products?
    CCO/CCS (Cosmetic Company Outlets/Stores)

    alluringgirl.com

    allcosmeticswholesale.comMAC Cosmetic Products?
When you compare it to a lot of brands out there, MAC is actually not that expensive (ie Dior, Chanel) and it's the lowest-priced high-end makeup. You're paying for the quality, as well as it not being animal-tested. The easiest way to get stuff below retail is to try eBay, as well as sites like Makeup Alley where you can swap for items. There's also a MAC Livejournal where people sell off stuff they don't want, and if you have an outlet mall near you there may be the CCO, or Cosmetics Company Store, where they sell some items (mostly former limited-editions) for about 30% off retail.
they will allways be expesive. go to there area in macys or something and watch for when they have sales.
eBay seems like the best bet...

Hope you enjoy the other tips ... :)

Ladyrima. What is your top 10- cosmetic products ?
    Here's some things I use:

Bare Minerals primer/foundation/bronzer/mineral veil--This stuff is all fabulous and I use it every single day. It's quick, easy, and looks/feels GREAT while being good for your skin.

Covergirl liquid concealer--Great coverage, while still being quite light and not clogging pores. It also doesn't creep into lines or flaky, dry skin that I have. Been using this stuff for like 7 years now.

Covergirl Cheekers blush--For me, there's no difference in blush. When applied correctly, it all looks just as good. I just love this one for the super pretty smell!

Bedhead eye shadows--These rock. Tons of colors, and all of them are nice and opaque, so you need very, very little. It costs more than cheapy drugstore stuff, but man. It lasts for forEVER.

Colossal Lash mascara--I have nice eyelashes, so I'm not picky about mascara, but this stuff goes on really smooth and clean.

And I use a super awesome plumping lipgloss, but I don't remember what it's called, and the name has rubbed off :)

Though I love all of my products, good looking make up is all about the brushes and the application. You can make crap make up look good if you know how to apply it correctly. Most of my products are quite cheap, if you hadn't noticed. Though, Bare Minerals is worth every penny!
Benefit : Dr Feelgood - it closes pores and gives a lovely satin finish to

    foundation.

Ooh La Lift - brightens up the under eye area wonderfully and

can be used as a subtle highlighter on the brow bone.

Yves St Laurent : Touche Eclat - the best under eye concealer ever,

brightens and conceals without heaviness or caking.

Guerlain: Terracotta Bronzers - A range of different bronzers for every

    Skin tone and last forever!

Too Faced : Lip Injection and Lip Injection Extreme - The best plumper

I have tried and the Extreme moisturises the lips and

plumps overnight, my lips feel like velvet in the morning.

Bare Minerals : Foundation - covers my spider veins and blotches but

doesn't look like I have make up on, I wouldn't use

    anything else now.

Aveda : Camomile Colour Shampoo and Camomile Conditioner for my

lightened blonde hair - natural ingredients and leaves my hair

    super shiney.
    1 Clinique Superfit Foundation

It gives me a natural, but perfect look, and stays on all day, even with sweating.

    #2 Stila Stick Concealor

This is VERY creamy, although it works better if you warm it up on your hand first, and it stays on all day, with full coverage. Plus, i can fit it in my pocket.

#3 Stila Illuminating Finishing Powder in Bronze

It may look dark in the package, but it really gives me a sunkissed glow that looks VERY natural, plus i have light skin.

#4 Almay Bright Eyes Under Eye Concealor

This is AMAZING at covering up under eye circles, plus, it works great as an eyeshadow base too

#5 Dior Lip Glow Lip Balm

This is a little pricey, but totally worth the money for the glow it gives u. Plus, i have full lips, and its not obvious at all, yet it gives me such a subtle glow that people notice that im looking better every time i wear it.

#6 Tarte Perfect Whirled Natural Cheek Stain

This gives u a great glow if you apply it right

#7 Dior Diorshow Waterproof Mascara in Deep Brown

What i absolutely adore about this mascara is that it gives you different looks depending on how much you put on. If you just put on one sweep, your eyelashes look a LOT longer, but still VERY natural. Plus, if you go underwater while swimming it still doesnt smudge.

    #8 C.O Bigelow Mentha Lipshine

This REALLY makes your lips shine, plus, it gives you minty breath!

    #9 Revlon Eyelash Curler

This gives you an EXTREMELY natural look but it still makes your lashes stand out. Its a great alternative to mascara

    #10 Stila Smudge Pot

This works great as a liner, and dries very quickly, plus it gives you a very dramatic yet pretty look.
Bareminerals fairly light mineral powder - goes on nicely, works as a foundation and concealer, lasts all day, feels like I'm wearing no makeup at all

Bareminerals mineral veil - sets my make-up and keeps it from going shiny

Bareminerals well-rested for eyes - I put this on when I'm not wearing makeup, just to brighten my eyes up when they're looking tired

Bloom lip tint in Stain - Love the shade, it adds a bit of colour to my lips without being OTT

Natural Collection dark brown mascara - it's waterproof, lasts all day, and looks completely natural - no clumping

Maybelline Colossal Volum'Express mascara - thicker than the last one, black, good for nights out

Colour trend pencil eyeliners - they go on nice and smooth, don't irritate my eyes, and they're cheap - the white one is great for lining the waterline

Collection 2000 Dazzle Me! eyeshadow - loose powder, comes in lots of bright colours, looks fantastic on nights out

Boots No7 Sheer Temptation lipstick in Fascinate, which is a sexy dark red - very vampy, great for nights out

Maybelline Liner Express in black - the only liquid eyeliner I can put on without making a mess
Lash Blast Mascara by Cover girl- I am obsessed with long black lashes. This gives me exactly that!

Almay Liquid Liner- I'm not an eyeliner fan. But this glides on so well.

Soft-lips Chapstick- I have the softest lips ever because of this stuff no joke.

Curly Sexy Hair Shampoo and Conditioner- Makes my hair look beachy curly.

Chi Straightener- This is so amazing gives you stright hair in a second!

Amber Romance Body Spray- Smells so good!

Noxema Face Wash- Amazing. Gives me good skin.

Headbands- I love headbands so simple!

Bobby Pins- Hold my hair back and are cheap!

Mary Kay Eyeshadow- Stays on all day.

    smear dog crap on it
as a face wash use biore shine control face wah, it controls shine right after you wash. right after that apply garnier matte control skin lotion, it has clay in it which quickly aborbs oil.
Go to www.youravon.com and browse their products for oily skin. They work pretty good and you might catch a sale because the holidays are close.
ummm i use neutrugena (probably didn't spell that right), but my skin is really oily but that actually dries my face sometimes so i use so vitamin E cream cocoa butter after using that. but that still have oily skin even using that, so if your skin is like extra oily you probably don't need the vitamin E cream.
Boy, this is a toughie. I've tried almost everything. The best thing that works for me is using the St Ives apricot scrub every morning. I then use Aveeno lotion and bare minerals makeup. My face gets oily and shiny within about 2 hours so I just dab on a bit more powder and then its ok. Before I go to bed, I wash my face with these facial clensing cloths that you can get at walmart. I've been doing this routine for about a year and a half and my skin has improved.

Are e.l.f. cosmetic products good quality?

theyre only 1 dollar they seem like theyd be cheap quality. are they? Are e.l.f. cosmetic products good quality?
you get what you paid for!

the brushes are alright quality. i mean for a dollar what can you expect?

i like the large foundation brush and the eyeshadow brush.

the eyeshadow brush is dense and can pack a lot of pigment, but i find that it sheds quite a bit. (haven't had any shedding problems with the large foundation brush yet)

another brush that i've tried is the large powder brush, which i found to be pretty coarse and felt horrible against my face. if you're looking for a powder brush, ELF is not where you want to get yours from.

the fake eyelashes have white glue (to keep the eyelashes together in one strip) that is visible after you put it on and you can't make it not show with eyeliner, mascara or anything!

i think their lip balms are alright though. the orange and vanilla one were nice.

lip plumpers.. you don't get much and the colors are poorly pigmented. i believe i bought about 5 or 6 and when i tested them they all looked the same shade? also it is NOT pleasant when you accidentally lick your lips.

they eyeshadows have like NO PIGMENT or something. except for the dramatic quad, the black was very nicely pigmented but the other 3 colors didn't show up well at all (even with primer/base!)

i do recommend getting the eyelash curler and oil blotting sheets- those are like the only 2 things that i buy from them now.

Are e.l.f. cosmetic products good quality?
    NO. They are absolutely not.

I know that its tempting to buy them because they are cheap, but look at the ingredients. If you can't understand the label, then its not good for your skin.

If you are going to put it on your face, then it needs to be of good quality. You can still get good makeup for a reasonable price. Covergirl is very good, and so is Almay.

My personal favorite is Mark. It is Avon's line for teenagers, its ridiculously cheap. Take a look- www.meetmark.com

everything is like five dollars, and it lasts forever, and you know your getting a good product.

    Everything is really cute too!

actually some of their stuff is really good...the lip glosses are great (the ones in the tubes and theones with the little brush applicator) the brushes are ok but id get those to keep in my car for emergencies...also their bronzer is pretty good too...

if you decide to buy some of their make up get it right now that shipping is only 2 dollars because usually its about 7. all you need is the cupon code.
horrible quality.i ordered from there once and never again!

OKAY.they set up there website to make things worth a

dollar, maybe look more expensive. its like buying one of

those 50 cent eyeliners at a drug store that dont come with

a cap they are horrible everything is so cheappppppppppppp.
it is all disgusting. it is all thick and goopy. as others have said, you get what you pay for.
Everything except the foundation is pretty good for the price.
You get what you pay for....
depends on if you have clear skin

and if u dont want to look like u have a mask on

    its very light coverage
they probably are, but i could be wrong!

i'd try them, they are so cheap! (:
their lip gloss is kinda goopy but i think theyre pretty good quality and for a buck ... hey why not?

What are the best MAC Cosmetics products?

I am going to MAC and I want to get some basics.

Which foundations, concealer, powder, eyeshadows (4-6), eyeliner, lipgloss, lipsticks should i get?

Like which type of each and color recommendations. What are the best MAC Cosmetics products?
Basically a lot of the mac products are a hit or miss.

it's depending on what you're looking for, you can get a lot of stuff that are the exact same quality at drug stores.

mac has a wide assortment of lipstick finish's %26amp; eyeshadow finish's.

the lip glasses are nice but they're also extremely sticky.

honestly my favorites are the mineralized skin finish's, eye shadows, lipsticks, %26amp; fix+ (which sets your foundation and gets rid of flakes on your skin)

a lot of the people commenting on this have no idea what they're talking about because you can get liquid eyeliners that are the same quality as mac at any drugstore. the best eyeliners from mac in my opinion are power point pencil in engraved %26amp; eye kohl in fascinating.

oh and btw, the shadesticks are no good, they dry out. if you're looking for a good base get an nyx shadestick in yogurt! or you can even use any creamy white eyeliner. and the too faced shadow insurance is good if you have dry lids.. if your eyelids are oily get the urban decay primer potion.

P.S DO NOT INVEST IN THERE MASCARA, IT'S CRAP.

oh btw, there foundation (studio fix fluid) that everyone raves about you can get literally get the same exact thing at the drugstore for like $20 less it's revlon colorstay. they have the same texture, same smell etc( i have both)What are the best MAC Cosmetics products?
i would definitely recommend the black fluid line eyeliner its a very well eyeliner and applies wonderfully, and for the eyeshadow http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/spp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT154%26amp;PRODUCT_ID=363 use this link and chose whatever color you want, and it is by far the best eyeshadow the other products i have not used =] hope this helpd
Mac creme-sheen lipsticks... sooo creamy and perfect...

Also their veluxe pearl eyeshadows- Woodwinked is amazing

There are many different plates used in cosmetic/personal care plants. The most general would be ACA agar (all culture agar.) See the source link for a list of other media used.

If sodium benzoate and Vitamin C can form a carcinogen when they come together in a cosmetic product?

sodium benzoate breaks down to become benzene when it encounters vitamin c. Sodas and soft drinks have been targeted as potentially carcinogenic as a result. These ingredients often co-exist in cosmetics - so could the same thing happen? If sodium benzoate and Vitamin C can form a carcinogen when they come together in a cosmetic product?
Two of the most dangerous elements in the world are sodium and chlorine. Each, on their own are very dangerous. When mixed with a variety of substances, they both can react very violently. When these two horrible elements are brought together in balance, they form sodium chloride, also known as table salt.

Unstable ingredients are often mixed to make stable materials.

not too sure since it depends on your skin. this is what i know after reading abt this stuff:

    1. neutrogena and clinique - don't work on majority indian/sub-continental skin, kinda works on asian (chinese skin) and works on american skin.

    2. clean and clear - more or less works on lots of skin especially teenage skin

    3. estee lauder- loaded with chemicals and lots of ppl tend to have reactions to it (i dunno if its true or not).

    4. lancome and chanel - good for ageing skin.

    5. l'oreal and garnier - good drugstore brands that work pretty well!

oh, i just realised that u asked abt ';cosmetics'; and not creams and stuff. sorry! but hope this helps in some way :D

What specific MAC cosmetics products do you like?

plush lash mascara $12What specific MAC cosmetics products do you like?
i absolutely LOVE their tinted lip conditioners which can be bought regular in a lipstick tube or in the little jars

their LipGlass is also great too. the colors are AMAZING. but it's a little sticky. usually, a little vaseline on your lips before you put on the lipglass will make the appearence look more shiny %26amp; pretty.

MAC just recently came out with their new Hello Kitty line %26amp; their products are soo cute. i bought a hello kitty MAC tinted lip conditioner %26amp; got a cute hello kitty tote bag =]

and MAC's Viva LaGlam line is a great cause! every penny of the sale goes to MAC's charity for AIDS. [Fergie is the spokesperson]
i have brown hair and eyes too, and I have the paint pot too... try these

    Try their liquid liner pen,

mythology eye shadow (its a peachy copper)

sketch (a dark plum color shadow)

steamy (a mermaid green that shimmers blue)

and DEFINITELY!!! get their blending brushes. #224 for that big smokey airbrushed look, and #217 for adding extra color in the crease

Oh and the love nectar lipgloss, its a pretty peachy pink color

    Have fun!!! :)
All of the eyeshadows and the gel eyeliner it rocks... Actually as soon as you hit their store or counter your gonna want everything in site. They have wonderfull colors and they eyeshadow color is actually the same when you put it on. Other brands dont do the same or you have to pack it on to match the actual color. Not with Mac...just go and ask the counter proffesional what shadows go best with your skin color and they'll try some on you. Trust me whatever they put on your gonna love:)

Their eye shadows are fantastic, they stay on well and have excellent colours. For your colous I would recommend glodmine, honey lust (limited so may not sill be around) wookwinked and soba.

I also love their Viva glam lipsticks- beautiful colours and they are for a good cause as well!
I use almost all of the MAC products to be honest. It's totally worth it all! If you can actually afford at least one product, you'll be guaranteed satisfaction, but that just depends on personal preference.
WOODWINKED EYESHADOW ($17) IS A MUST. It's a VERY nice bronze-gold color, that blends super-well and can be either cute and feminine or super sexy. I adore it.

How does use of cosmetic products affect our skin?

well, since cosmetics contain man made substances i am sure it could cause a bit of havoc on the skin, in forms of rashes, pimples, even skin cancer.

many powders have talc, talc does contain carcenogens...would probably affect our lungs more than anything. How does use of cosmetic products affect our skin?
you can get all natural makeup but most makeup will not harm your skin because it has been tested. in fact, a lot of makeup protects your skin from the sun, aging, dryness, etc. the makeup i have has helped me prevent acne because it is formulated with salicylic acid. makeup is a good, safe thing!

You've tossed out all your bad makeup and skincare, now what? Head on over to www.mymarkstore.com/dpupo to replace those items without breaking the bank!Do soap/cosmetic products ever go bad?
After a certain period of time, your products are likely to build up bacteria if not discarded.

Here are some general rules of thumb:

    Mascara - 2 - 3 months

    Liquid Products - 3 - 4 months

    Lipstick - 6 months

Cream Products (eye shadows, blushes, highlighters, bronzers) - 6 - 9 months.

Powder Products (eye shadows, blushes, bronzers, highlighters, facial powders) - 9 - 12 months.

Pencils - 2 years if sharpened regularly.

If the consistency of any product changes or starts to smell then get rid of it. Cosmetics are built to have a shelf life of anywhere between one year and three years - you don't know when you purchase how long into the shelf life the product is. Stick to the general guidelines and you should be fine!Do soap/cosmetic products ever go bad?
The only cosmetic items that ever go bad are anything with an SPF in it, because they do expire overtime. Mascara it is highly recommended to replace every 3 months, but hey sometimes I keep mine for 5 months and it still works well for me!
absolutely!! On the make of make up and stuff like that

there is usually a little symbol which looks like a tub, and its got a number on it, thats the number of months you should keep it!

How do you know if a cosmetic product is water-based or oil-free?

I've read tips that recommended a water-based or oil-free cosmetics for oily skin, but they never show you what ingredients to look for or to avoid in those products....How do you know if a cosmetic product (like blush powder, foundation, etc...)is water-based or oil-free???How do you know if a cosmetic product is water-based or oil-free?
it will usually say on the package in tiny print, usually if it doesn't say ';oil free'; or ';water-based';, then obviously, it is not. Another way to tell if makeup is oil free is if it has an ';active ingredient'; of salicilic acid (usually about 0.6%). If you really want to be sure...read the ingredients, or just stick with the ones that are actually oil free, like Rimmel cool makeup, Maybelline pure makeup or almay for oily/acne prone skin. How do you know if a cosmetic product is water-based or oil-free?
those are good-selling features, so if they are water-based or oil-free, it will be somewhere on the packaging.
Water based will say on the label (as the main ingredient) Water or Aqua. If your cosmetics have these on them then they are water based.

Oil based will say on the label, mineral oil, petrolatum (I think that's how you spell it), petroleum or it won't say anything.

FYI nut oils such as almond oil are good for your skin.

no It is notIs it illegal for cosmetic companies in the USA to test their products on animals?
Yep its illegal, Damn those activists...
Yep, it is illegal, but they do it anyway, who's gonna know ?

However, it is LEGAL to test all kind of drugs and sh!t on American troops abroad , or the population in poor countries which are given experimental drugs ... is it OK to assume that to politicians and the big companies, they are worth less than animals ?
well what do you want them to test on? Rico?

Whats the different between these two MAC cosmetics Products?

I honestly find myself buying most of my makeup from MAC and Makeup forever...

And i could never figure out the difference between MAC's studio fix powder, and the Mineralize skinfinish natural?

I currently have the Mineralize skinfinish natural.

Thanks!Whats the different between these two MAC cosmetics Products?
the MSF's usually give a more dewy/glow affect (which i dont like, it should be used as more of a highlighter) and the studio fix(which i use) gives u a matte affect and it covers up better. =)Whats the different between these two MAC cosmetics Products?
MAC's studio fix powder has more of a matte effect, and goes on a tad thicker. I like the Mineralize skinfinish natural more because it doesn't feel like there's tons of product on your face.

How do find out if a cosmetic product has been tested on animals?

I heard herbal esences shampoo is but would really like to know if this is true. I am not against animal testing on medicines as they are really dangerous but it is not nessecary for cosmetics. Somebody told me about how the animals lose all their hair and are really traumitised and I don't think its right when its not nessesary. Do you agree? Can I find out is this true? How do find out if a cosmetic product has been tested on animals?
herbal essence is tested on animals it is made by proctor and gamble and this is what they say

P%26amp;G admit that guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, ferrets, rats and mice are among the animals used in their 鈥榩roduct safety research鈥? as well as cats and dogs in pet food experiments. Uncaged鈥檚 investigations continue to reveal disturbing examples of P%26amp;G鈥檚 ongoing involvement in painful and lethal animal tests.

Procter %26amp; Gamble exist for one reason, and one reason only - to make as much money as possible. P%26amp;G test on animals because of their desire to get new chemical ingredients on to the market. This allows them to claim that their new hair dye, skin cream or washing powder etc. is 鈥榥ew, improved鈥? in the hope of increasing sales. But with many companies producing similar consumer products without carrying out animal tests, it shows that P%26amp;G鈥檚 cruelty is motivated by greed.

you will find a full list hereHow do find out if a cosmetic product has been tested on animals?
read on the back of the product or write to the manufacturing company i think its usually proctor and gamble...look them up! or look up animal testing and see what rreally happens to the animals if your that worried about it
Test it on your own animal.

If it has some kind of allergic reation or dies, then it was probably never tested on animals.
it ususally states on the product if it has been tested on animals. Personally I used herbal essence, thinking it would be lovely, but it was crap. Would never use it again. I don't think animals should be used for cosmetic testing.
try readin' the label luv, askin' the guy/galbehind the counter or phoning the number of the company...again, on the label.

    Everythings written on the label...hopefully.
I wish I knew as I always thought that they put a little sign on the packaging to tell you if it's been tested on animals or not. Personally I have a lot of allergies so normally if I use makeup that's been tested on them I no about it!!! I use herbal essence and did not know that, but it's really good for my hair!
Most products that don't test on animals have a pair of rabbit ears or some animal icon on the back.

They don't wash the animals in the shampoo but they put it in their eyes as they can't cry to remove it. It's sickening. Any animal testing, medical or cosmetic, is sickening. You've seen what medical testing can do to humans but you say it's ok to do it to animals that can't cry out to show how much pain they are in.

    PETA
Well. They usually just write - ';This product is not tested on animals.'; And if you don't believe just try it on an animal ( which is awful) and you'll see.
I pretty much go by the rule that if a product doesn't say whether it tests on animals or not, then it probably does. Companies who don't test on animals tend to have a message on their products shouting it out.

I've looked at the website, and Herbal Essences is produced by a huge company called Proctor and Gamble, who produce a hell of a lot of products. This company DO test their products in animals. Look at their website and you will probably be shocked by the number of products that you use everday that are tested on animals. Are Pringles so important that hundreds of animals need to live in misery?

Animals are just seen by these companies as a tool for them to ultimately make more money out of their gimmicky (and probably crap and useless) products.
I am very concerned about this also - so what I tend to do is check my lipstick on my cat first and see if he flinches.
write to the company or read the containers
Yup i agree with you! Usually you can see if it has been tested on animalos by the bottom or side of the packaging, for example my charles worthington shampoo says it has been tested but not on animals. so i feel comfortable using it.
In the UK, there should be a little rabbit symbol on the packaging so show that no animal testing occurred.
Rub it in a rabbit's eye, then you know for sure that it has been tested!
    look on the back
    Go to PETA's website at:

    http://www.caringconsumer.com/resources_companies.asp
There is a book you can buy which tells you which companies test on animals and which other companies they are part of or own etc. I don't know what it's called but my friend has it. Basically, make up wise, you're talking Clarins olny! Most others test on them but shampoo I'm not sure. If you Google 'do Clairol test on animals?' it should give you a link to a document which will provide names of companies which do and don't.

  • Is wet n wild a good makeup brand, because I want cruelty free cosmetic products, and it is the cheapest ?

wet n wild, revlon, or avon...?Is wet n wild a good makeup brand, because I want cruelty free cosmetic products, and it is the cheapest ?
I understand the money factor, and Revlon does not qualify as inexpensive. There is a brand called NYC (new york colour) that is almost as inexpensive as wet n wild but it does work, and they are not outrageous colors and they do not test on animals. I know walmart carries it.Is wet n wild a good makeup brand, because I want cruelty free cosmetic products, and it is the cheapest ?
I love Wet N Wild stuff! I've been using it since I was 13 (i'm now 28). The foundation isn't so great, but the eyeshadows, eyeliners, lipsticks, nail polishes and mascara are awesome. The translucent powder is also okay, but not my favorite. Go with CoverGirl for foundation, concealer, and powder. Still inexpensive, but better quality. But for the fun ';experimenting with colors'; stuff (eye makeup, blush, lipstick, etc,) Wet N Wild is perfect. Plus if you hate it or get sick of it after a month, you won't feel bad about throwing it away because it only cost a few dollars.
cheapest is usually the worst! if you go for a little exspencive then you might find what you r looking for!
actually, no. go check out Eye Lips Face cosmetics. they are super cheap, but they are really good products.

    :]

ALSO: here's a list of cruelty free makeup straight from peta.

    http://www.peta2.com/STUFF/s-cf1.asp
Wet 'n' Wild is very cheap %26amp; becuz it's so cheap it suks. Maybelline doesn't test on animals, use that instead.
i actually like wet n' wild. i have worked in a department store and have used mac, clinique, lancome ... nars ... everything. these eyeshadows aren't bad at all. the pigment does show up on your skin, though it's not bold. i haven't used any of their other products tho. i actually splurge on my makeup bases and powders and cleansing products.

i don't know if jane animal tests, but they are a really good drugstore brand. i think clinique owns them and they are made at the same factory. i love their pencil eyeliners; they glide on and last forever, and they have some really nice mineral blushes that i think are talc free. they blend really well with a lot of different types of makeup.

i actually don't like revlon, cover girl, maybelline. i do like l'oreal for lip gloss; their juicy tubes are great. maybelline mascara is ok though. i prefer clinique's mascara, i forget the name of the specific one but it is in an olive green sparkly tube i think. it's high definition i think?

bonne bell has great lip gloss that gives you color and tastes good. i don't think they animal test.

physicians formula has a talc free mineral powder, and it's at drugstores. it looks really nice, and they're organic but i don't know about animal testing. i haven't tried them but i may for a cheaper compact for my purse because i'm impressed with the fact that their powder has spf 15(i think) and is talc free. i just spotted these yesterday so i'm going to have to go back and investigate. they had some nice true to life colors.

you can have nice makeup at any price. some things work, some don't. just because it's department store doesn't mean it's the only way to go. now i would stay away from those holiday makeup kits with all the colors; those are super cheap and they do not work at all.

but wet n' wild is so cheap, buy a few pallets and try for yourself. egyptian sands and paradise cove are really nice.

have fun! don't get trapped into thinking you HAVE to have dior, chanel, nars, etc. drugstore has good finds, though i would recommend reading reviews online before purchasing a product since you can't test it in the store.

    good luck and have fun!
I'd say go for Revlon or Avon. I've tried Wet n Wild stuff before and it sucks. It's only really good for lipstick/lipgloss and nail polish.
try physicians formula I love there mineral wear talc free loose powder (it s a mineral foundation and its on sale at walgreens for 6 bucks) there stuff is really dood and you can get it in pharmacys and places like target and walmart for under 10 bucks.

Omg and I just bought mabelline water proof define a lash and I love it you should try it (got for 4 bucks at wallgreens all there makeup is 50% off or buy one get one free) Heres a website that lists some comps that dont test on animals. Maybellne might not be on the list but they dont test on animals anymore neither does loreal.http://caringconsumer.com/resources_comp鈥?/a>
there ok i mean if u have it for too long it

goes bad faster then the more expensive brands

, but i dont recommend there eye liners they suck.

other then that there pretty good i mean

u get what u pay for.
Wet N Wild is pretty cheap but the thing is that it dosen't work as good as higher end brands.

Try Maybeline New York , I use one of their green mascara's and their not waterproof but they work really good and stay on pretty long.

And if you can try MAC makeup.

    GL! [: :]
    out of those choices...

    revlon.
Their lip liner and eyeliner is about the only good thing in my opinion. Everything else is a waste of money, sorry.

And have you ever told anyone? What cosmetics products will your husband/boy friend not admit to using?
I know for sure that my husband has used my make-up. I left my lipstick a certain way and then went out (leaving him alone). When I came back, the lipstick was moved and a little bit worn down. I later caught him with full make-up on...lipstick, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, eyebrows, blush, nails...etc. He'd never admit it to anyone else. What cosmetics products will your husband/boy friend not admit to using?

Hi,im new to cosmetic products and hygiene,im 15?

im going to start to be 16 in a month and im new to cream products,

i started breaking out so nasty,i dont know if i really need moisturizer lotion for my body, also i never used sun lotion

give me helpful tips to be motivated to be clean because i easiy forget.Hi,im new to cosmetic products and hygiene,im 15?
    Hmmmm...well, start with the basics.

Shower or bathe every day, remember to wash your face and hair.

Take a shower after gym class or team practise. You're older now, so you smell different when you sweat.

Use deorderant every day, nobody likes to hang with stinky people.

Brush your teeth twice a day. Nobody likes bad breath and almost no one will tell you that you have bad breath. ( I mean ';you'; in general, not you personally)

Wear clean underwear every single day.

Try to wear clean clothes every day.

If you have oily skin, you don't need moisturiser.

Make sure you have clean sheets on your bed every week. There's not much point in washing your face before you go to bed and then sleeping on a really dirty pillowcase.

Go to www.acne.org to check some ways to deal with acne.

Wash your hands on a regular basis and try not to touch your face too much when your are breaking out. You could spread the bacteria, that are causing the breakout, to other areas of your face or body.

Drink lots of water and try to avoid junk food. Water, especially, will help you get better skin.

Good luck with all of that.

I 'm not trying to sound condescending, it's just that some people don't actually know that teenagers and adults should shower daily and not just once a week.

Why do cosmetic companies put sodium hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide, and calcium hydroxide in their products?

Why do we need those harsh chemicals in our face care products, hair care products (I'm not talking about perms, relaxers, and hair color! I understand why these products contain those chemicals!), body lotions, toothpaste, etc.?Why do cosmetic companies put sodium hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide, and calcium hydroxide in their products?

They do not. All you have to do is to read the copntents labels. These are regulated by the Food %26amp; Drug Administration. The most plenteous ingredient has to be listed first, followed by the next. You will never see the chemicals that you listed in your question on their labels. Because they are not there.

Are MAC,Lanc么me and Est茅e Lauder good cosmetic products? and does ULTA also sell good products?

i just need opinion. im going to macys and ulta today so i don't know what to getAre MAC,Lanc么me and Est茅e Lauder good cosmetic products? and does ULTA also sell good products?
Go to MAC. Their products are awesome and the girls will hook you up. Ulta does sell great products as well. Goodluck. Are MAC,Lanc么me and Est茅e Lauder good cosmetic products? and does ULTA also sell good products?
MAC, And Estee Lauder i have tried and i love them, i usually get eyeliner prom mac, and blush, and eyeshadow from estee lauder. at Ulta they also have ots of great makeup, and make up that you would find at any drug stores. at ulta i would get the fantastic plastic set by too faced. and stila's cherry crush. its a lipgloss, and liquid bluch, not sticky either. And bourjois paris' 3D effect lipgloss in the blue bottle.
MAC is owned by Estee Lauder. In fact, Estee Lauder owns several makeup lines. All of them are good.

Lancome is a good company, but it is not owned by Estee Lauder. It is owned by L'Oreal. If I find a color I like in Lancome, I will go to the drugstore to see if L'Oreal has the same color -- often they do!

Ulta sells great products -- sign up for their free rewards card and they will send you coupons in the mail!
MAC is the best cosmetic line ever invented...personally. All of them will understandably run pricier than your Walgreen's or wal-mart brands but that's for a reason. They use more minerals and vitamins rather than chemicals. Which in the end help you in the future and not just for however long ur wearing the makeup.
Est茅e Lauder has to be the best but alas the most expensive

Actually all are good products I hate paying high prices personally.

Can grapefruit, kiwi, mango n papaya extract in cosmetic products cause harm to our face skin?

there are a cosmetic brand that i know that use this extracts in its cleanser. Can grapefruit, kiwi, mango n papaya extract in cosmetic products cause harm to our face skin?
While working in the hospital, I knew a nurse who became sensitized to latex gloves. She hated to put them on, because in just a few minutes, her skin would become red and sore, with a rash. After a while, she had to change jobs to administrative work, to protect her hands from the latex allergy.

Months later, she was brought to the emergency room in anaphalactic shock brought on by allergic reaction to mangos. The allergist who treated her told her that latex allergy is becoming more prevalent, and that mangos and avocados will sometimes cause a reaction in a latex sensitive person.

The question is, exactly what extracts of these fruits are in this cosmetic? If it is an extract, alcohol was used to dissolve the active ingredient out of the fruit. By definition, and extract is dissolved in alcohol. Can your face use the drying effects of alcohol? Can grapefruit, kiwi, mango n papaya extract in cosmetic products cause harm to our face skin?
i dnt think kiwi bad no they cant harm our face
I really do not know for sure but a dermatologist told me years ago to only use dove sensitive to wash my face because it clean's completely without drying out your face. It has cream in it, so it moisturizes. I have not been disappointed and I have not had skin blemishes in years. As he said keep it simple. Unless you have real problems, keep it simple and use a non-perfumed, sensitive cream. You don't have to spend a fortune to look your best and you certainly do not on cleaning unless you just like trying new things.
The only way to tell is to try it, if your not allergic to any of these products it shouldn't be a problem, but you can go to an allergist and have them do any allergy test, where they stick you with small needles containing everything from Honey to shampoo, it's a contained area so if you do have a reaction they can help you as well.
No, I have several of those types of products and they work great on my sensitive skin. What you need to watch out for is chemicals and mineral oil, not natural ingredients!
If you are allergic. I know lots of people who are allergic to Mango sap, but I would imagine that not the same as extract.
y use artificial products when u have the same natural fruits. make face packs out of the natural veggies%26amp; fruits.

Why do cosmetic companies get to FIX PRICES for their products?

I thought this was against the law in the US?Why do cosmetic companies get to FIX PRICES for their products?
This is called ';Resale price maintenance'; and is legal. The Supreme Court recently ruled (in 2007...look it up) that this was legal--within reason.

The trick to doing this legally is to work with retailers to set pricing and NOT competitors. Working with competitors to set pricing is called collusion, and will put you in jail.

Roger! Why do cosmetic companies get to FIX PRICES for their products?
it's not so much as the companies ';fix'; prices but pressure stores to sell it at the recommended retail price. if stores vary from this, the brand pulls it's merchandise and the retailer misses out. it's a power thing...

Feedback on All Natural Cosmetic/Beauty Products?

Since having a baby in 2005, I have become keenly aware of all the unnecessary chemical exposure we have in the normal course of our lives. I have made many changes to my family's diet, methods for cleaning, laundering, etc. One area that is of particular interest to me is moving toward all natural cosmetic solutions. I have found several things that work well for me and I am considering trying to make and sell a small line of natural bath and beauty products.

I'd like to know before investing significant time and money how many people are out there that are also interested in this and would want to try my products. Most of the things I use on myself and my child are comprised of essential oils in a base as well as mixed with edible household ingredients for cosmetic/beauty purposes (hair and skin cleansing and moisture, makeup remover, skin exfoliation, bath perfumes/soaks).

Who else is interest in this kind of alternative to standard bath/beauty solutions? Feedback appreciated.Feedback on All Natural Cosmetic/Beauty Products?
I definitely would be! I think the only thing that may put me off is if they were really expensive, but if you can keep the price at a reasonable level then two thumbs up!Feedback on All Natural Cosmetic/Beauty Products?

  • Are any cosmetic products or their containers harmful to the environment?

Any manufacutred, pacakaged and transported product has an impact on the environment, from raw materials from wild plants %26amp; animals or intensive agriculture to non-renewable/recyclable materials in packaging.

Most cosmetics are sold on the basis of exclusivity, ie rare/expensive and not essential (like a 4x4 chelsea tractor) so sustainability and environmental credentials are low on the buyers list of importance.

the cosmetics that are OK are those you can easily make yourself from garden plants, eg Rosemary for hair wash or creams from marigolds.

This has the added benifit of needing to establish a relationship with the real world, and all sorts of enjoyment that come from that. Are any cosmetic products or their containers harmful to the environment?
Any sort of plastic that doesnt biodegenerate is harmful to the environment, so basically almost everything, and i dont't think the products themselves are harmful as u wear them on your face and such so they can't be toxic but theyre might be something like hairsprays that aren't good for the environment. =D

Don't make up a slogan just for the sake of having one... really. Your slogan should convey something about your brand. The best concealer I've ever used is Benefit's boi-ing. I have allergies and asthma on a good day I have dark circles. This will cover them up and any other imperfections you may have. I also love the big beatutiful eyes palette and it also has the boi-ing in the palette. Also, their galactic shield concealer is awesome for covering up and healing pimples. (I use this on hubby sometimes) And Badgal blue mascara. I know blue right, but it's not scary. Just enough pop. I prefer a different line of skin care products for lotions and scrubs. But they have some really nice stuff.

What cosmetic products are Animal Cruelty Free & Not tested on animals??

If I remember correctly, Neutrogena,Maybelline, and Loreal do not test...also from what I remember Max Factor,Cover Girl and Procter and Gamble test or the companies that have their ingredients do animal testing. I remember that I haven't bought these for that purpose. Sometimes it'll say on the back of the package..animal testing is ridiculous since the first human to try the product is the actual guinea pig.duh.

Anyway here is part of a report that i found on the web:

According to an abstract called Animal Testing by the Cosmetic Industry these companies and examples of their products include: Unilever: Dove soap, Cutex, Wisk Laundry detergent, I Can鈥檛 Believe it鈥檚 not Butter, Echo, Crem Silk shampoo Proctor and Gamble: Max Factor, Clarion, Cover Girl, Luvs, Pampers, Vidal Sassoon, Crest toothpaste, Tide laundry detergent, Head and Shoulders Colgate-Palmolive: Palmolive shampoo, Colgate toothpaste These are just a few of the companies that are still testing the list goes on and on.What cosmetic products are Animal Cruelty Free %26amp; Not tested on animals??

Doing a business project for cosmetic industry and I need to know whether cosmetic surgery qualifies as a substitute to using beauty products.

Elaborate plsIs cosmetic surgery considered a substitute for cosmetic products?
Yes, but only to a limited extent. If you're doing this project in connection with learning about elasticity of demand, it's not a perfect substitute. Is cosmetic surgery considered a substitute for cosmetic products?
It can be considered that, yes. There are procedures for women to permanently change the color of their lips to a certain shade of the color. I believe there are other similar procedures for eyeshadow. Look up ';lip shading'; or ';lip coloring';.

i use the same same items as posted above.

for make up brushes and pencils i use a plastic cosmetic caddy.

for shadows %26amp; compacts, and lip products i organize them in a vanity drawer by product and color.. i use the plastic inserts from higher end boxes of cookies or chocolates. they are heavy, have different sections and usually come in silver and gold. easy to see and it looks appealing.

hair product %26amp; tubes of foundation, etc go in the medicine cabinet. How do you tidy up Cosmetic Products? (A short Survey)?
    1. Creams, foundations, cleansers, foundations, blush, eye shadow, eye liner, eye brow pencils, lip sticks, lip liners, hair products (spray, gel,...)

as far drug store foundation/powder I really like CoverGirl's Simply Powder Foundation.. it is a powder that has a bit more coverage like a foundation.
